What is pet enrichment?

Enrichment refers to activities and environmental modifications designed to stimulate an animal's natural instincts and improve their quality of life — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The primary goal of enrichment is to maintain good physical and psychological health by providing animals with opportunities to perform natural behaviors in a safe, controlled environment. Enrichment keeps an animal's day interesting and is considered just as essential to animal welfare as nutrition and veterinary care.
